Invitation links

New starter, first morning. You add them to Leave Dates, the invitation email goes out, and you get on with your day.

Then, an hour later: "I haven't got anything."

So you resend it. Nothing. You ask them to check their spam folder. Nothing there either — or worse, it was there yesterday, and they've already deleted it. You resend again. Somewhere in the building, a mail filter is quietly eating your invitations and telling nobody.

And that email was the only way in. 📧

That's not good enough.

The Invite button now has a little dropdown next to it. Open it, and you can copy the invitation link straight to your clipboard.

Then send it however you actually talk to people. Slack. Teams. WhatsApp. A text message. Written on a sticky note and handed over the desk, if that's your style — we're not going to judge, we're just glad they got in.

Before you worry: this is still a proper invitation, not a skeleton key. It expires exactly like the one in the email always has, and it only works for the one person you copied it for. Paste it into the company-wide Slack channel, and nobody else gets in — they just get a link that isn't for them. 🔐

The Remind button has the same dropdown, for everyone who's been sitting on an unaccepted invitation since March.

Here's the thing we had to admit to ourselves: no amount of clever work on our end can guarantee an email survives the journey to somebody's inbox.

Not for lack of trying. Our sending domain is set up with SPF, DKIM and DMARC — three acronyms that between them tell the receiving mail server yes, this really is Leave Dates, no, nobody is impersonating us, and here's the cryptographic proof. It's the email equivalent of turning up at the border with your passport, your visa, and a letter from your host.

We keep all of it in order, because an invitation that lands in spam is a rotten first day.

And still. Sometimes the border guard is just having a day.

Spam filters have opinions. IT departments have policies. Corporate mail gateways have moods. And somewhere out there is a filtering rule written in 2014 by an administrator who left the company in 2017, quietly deciding your new starter doesn't need to hear from us.

We can't fix that one. Nobody can.

So rather than trying to win an argument with every mail server on the internet, we gave you a way around it entirely. The link was always there — now you can just take it.

No more:

• "Did you get the invite?", "What about now?", three days running
• Resending the same email and hoping this time is different
• Raising an IT ticket to get someone into a leave tracker
• New starters who can't book leave in their first week

Invitation links are available on every plan, trials included. There's nothing to switch on — open the Invite dropdown and it's there.
