How does TOIL work?
Leave Dates has a TOIL feature that can be toggled on or off (by admins) depending on whether your company offers this.
Go to Settings → Overtime and toggle the feature on or off. Select the leave allowance type for TOIL from the dropdown, or create a dedicated TOIL allowance.
You can add an allowance type specifically for TOIL if you want to in the Allowances page in Settings.

You then have a few further options that you can turn on or off. You can display TOIL on the wall chart – this is helpful for when overtime is planned in advance, as you have a visual reminder of who is working overtime when. You can choose to publicly display how much TOIL has been earned, and for what, or keep it to just admin, approvers and the person concerned. Employees can also request TOIL and, when approved, this gets added to their leave allowances.
You can even colour-code and rename it if you call it something different. (We’ve got four ‘super special golden star’ days in the bank this quarter and feeling very smug about it, thank you.)
If you don’t offer this kind of leave in return for overtime, this feature can be disabled and will vanish entirely, keeping your platform clean and policies clear.
